Questions about sensory organs treatments
- What is Nasya?
- Nasya is the administration of medicated oil or ghee through the nose after the face and neck are massaged and gently steamed. It is the classical Ayurvedic route for conditions of the head, sinuses, nose and throat, and takes about 60 minutes.
- What is Netra Tarpana?
- Warm medicated ghee is held over the open eyes inside a dough ring for a set time, around 30 minutes in total. It is traditionally used for dry eyes, digital eye strain and tired vision.
- Can I drive or use screens afterwards?
- After Netra Tarpana, vision is blurry for a short while, so do not drive straight away and keep off screens for the rest of the day. After Nasya, avoid cold air and cold drinks for a few hours.
- Who should tell the therapist before booking?
- Anyone with an eye infection, recent eye surgery, a fever, a nosebleed tendency, or who is pregnant. Contact lenses must come out before Netra Tarpana.
- How many Nasya sessions are usual?
- A single session is complete in itself; for chronic sinus or allergy complaints, the physician may suggest a short course of several sessions on consecutive days.
