Questions about face treatments
- What is Saundarya Chikitsa?
- It is a full Ayurvedic facial with herbs and oils matched to your dosha and skin type, lasting 60 minutes. It is chosen differently for Pitta skin that runs hot and reactive, Vata skin that runs dry, and Kapha skin that runs oily.
- What does a Kansa wand do?
- Kansa is a bronze alloy used to massage the face over oil. It can leave a brief greyish tint on the skin, which the tradition reads as acidity being drawn out; it washes off.
- What is Marma Abhyanga?
- A 30-minute facial massage over the marma points of the face with dosha-specific oil, used for eye strain, sinus congestion and tension held in the face.
- Can I wear make-up to the appointment?
- Please arrive with a clean face if you can. Make-up is removed before the treatment either way, and we suggest leaving the skin bare for the rest of the day.
- Who should tell the therapist before booking?
- Anyone with active skin infection, cold sores, recent cosmetic procedures such as peels or injectables, or a known allergy to nuts or sesame, since the oils may contain them.
